Mayor de Blasio says two new cases of UK variant ‘super-Covid’ found in NYC

Two New York City residents have been infected with the new coronavirus variant first identified in the UK, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced during a press conference on Wednesday. The two patients live in Manhattan and Queens, respectively, and one of them recently traveled to the UK. Dre Blasio once again called on the federal government to cancel all flights from the UK to the US. At least 83 people across 11 states have contracted the new strain, which is up to 70% more transmissible.
